Google Pixel 9: ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor

Google will unveil the Pixel 9 lineup on August 13, featuring ultrasonic fingerprint sensors for the first time. A technology that is faster and more reliable than optical sensors.

What you must remember :

  1. Pixel 9 launch moved up to August 13.
  2. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for Pixel 9, 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL.
  3. Pixel 9 Pro Fold keeps a side sensor.

Google will launch the family Pixel 9 on August 13, about two months earlier than usual. This move is intended to counter leaks, but two hands-on videos have already circulated recently, making this attempt less effective.

New rumors indicate that the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will feature ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors. Until now, the Pixels have used optical scanners. They will now adopt the same sensor model that Samsung uses in its series Galaxy S24.

THE 3D Sonic Gen 2 sensor (QFS4008) manufactured by Qualcomm has several advantages: it does not need to illuminate the part of the screen touched by the finger to scan the fingerprint, it is faster and more reliable than optical sensorsand it even works with wet fingers.

THE Pixel 9 Pro Fold will retain a side capacitive sensor integrated into the power button, according to the same report.
